Macbook Pro 16” (late 2019)
Apple: $2399
The Macbook Pro 16” is the powerhouse laptop of the Mac lineup. Even in its base configuration, it’s a performance machine for serious work.
Key Features
- 6-Core i7 or 8-Core i9 processor
- 16GB to 64GB of Ram
- 1TB to 4TB storage
- 16” Retina Display with …
- Programmable Touchbar
- Improved Keyboard
Limitations:
- Memory and storage are not upgradable
- Thunderbolt/USB-C ports require adapters for many uses.
The Macbook Pro 16” is my recommended laptop for power users, whether they are creatives doing design, video, audio, or photography, or developers or other power users that need the screen size, power and performance of this machine.
Add Memory and Storage for a longer useful life. Because this computer is not upgradable, it’s important to outfit it well from the beginning. Memory and storage are the most important considerations. While the 16GB of memory is sufficient for most uses, I recommend an upgrade to 32GB for better future performance. Likewise, 1TB seems adequate for many people, but you will protect your resale value and investment by getting at least 2TB, if you can afford it.
Upgrade the CPU and Graphics if needed. The 8-core i9 processor give you that extra boost for heavy processing loads. And upgrading to the 8GB version of the built-in graphics will pay off when processing photos, video, or other workloads that make heavy use of the graphics processor.
Who is this product for?
The Macbook Pro 16” (late 2019) is my pick for power users and creatives who need a laptop with a large screen and ample horsepower. It’s gorgeous.
